Call for Artists for Storm Drain Reveal 2013

James River Basin Partnership (JRBP) and the City of Springfield Department of Environmental Services are inviting local artists to submit mural designs for Storm Drain Reveal 2013. This innovative project uses creative public murals to raise awareness that storm drains lead directly to our streams and rivers. Submissions will be accepted through February 21st. All information regarding the project is available on JRBP's website, www.jamesriverbasin.com. Artists should carefully review the "Call for Artists Instructions" and submit the "Artists Application" available on the website. A panel of JRBP and City staff will select 10 designs and notify artists if their design is chosen. Paint and traffic safety cones will be supplied. Murals will need to be completed by mid-April. This year's focus is the downtown area where all the storm drains lead to Jordan Creek. This educational project is part of ongoing efforts to improve water quality in Jordan Creek. Submit your idea now and be part of Springfield's public art scene!
