Update: Fire at 1450 N. Texas

The Springfield Police Department (SPD) is taking over an investigation at 1450 N. Texas, following an early morning fire that claimed the lives of an adult woman and two children.

The Springfield Fire Department initially responded and extinguished the fire around 9 a.m. Upon working the fire, they discovered the deceased persons. The medical examiner, fire marshall and SPD were requested to the scene.

SPD was called to assist because it could not be determined the fire was the cause of death.

Police will continue the investigation, as they await the results of autopsies on the three. The woman and children have not been positively identified at this time.
