Referendum Petition Certified, Falls Short of Needed Signatures

The City Clerk's office has completed certifying the referendum petition that was submitted to repeal the rezoning of property at Grand and South Campbell. The petitioners submitted approximately 2,390 signatures, of which 1,787 need to be registered voters of Springfield. Of the signatures submitted, the City was only able to certify 1,744. The petitioners have an additional 10 calendar days to submit the additional 43 signatures required. The deadline is 5:00 pm on Monday, April 15. If at least 1,787 signatures are certified by that deadline, City Council must decide to repeal the zoning or send it to the voters in August.
