Former U.S. Fire Administrator to Speak at Local Symposium

Kelvin CochranThe Springfield Fire Department is honored to welcome Chief Kelvin Cochran to the 2013 Springfield Fire Department Leadership Symposium. Chief Cochran is currently the Fire Chief of the City of Atlanta Fire Rescue Department and was the former U.S. Fire Administrator of the U.S. Fire Administration in Washington, D.C. where he was charged with overseeing, coordinating, and directing national efforts to prevent fires and improve fire response. The subject of Chief Cochran’s discussion will be “Leadership, Diversity, and Managing Emerging Fire Service Trends.”

“Springfield is very fortunate to have such a distinguished speaker available to our personnel locally," said Springfield Fire Chief David Hall. "Usually, we have to send someone to a conference across the country to gain insights from such a speaker.”

The symposium takes place 8 a.m. - 5 p.m., today at the Springfield Regional Police and Fire Training Center, 2620 W. Battlefield from. Fire service personnel from across the state, as well as from Arkansas and Oklahoma have registered to attend. The media is invited to attend.
