For Immediate Release
Police to conduct DWI checkpoint
The Springfield Police Department takes drunk driving very seriously and will be joining the Greene County Sheriff's Department for a DWI checkpoint at a certain time during the month of May. The SPD will also participate in DWI saturation patrols throughout the city during the same time frame. The checkpoint and saturation patrols will be funded by a grant from the Missouri Department of Transportation.
Consequences of drunk driving include jail time, loss of driving privileges, sentencing to use ignition interlocks and increased insurance rates. Financial losses include attorney fees, court costs, lost time at work and the potential loss of a job.
Drunk driving is not worth the consequences – remember if you drink and drive, you lose.
