Council of Churches to host Ozarks Race and Faith Collaborative
8 a.m., Saturday, May 11, 2013
Matthew Fellowship Hall at the Council of Churches - 627 N. Glenstone

The first Ozarks Race and Faith Collaborative meeting will take place on Saturday, May 11, 2013 at 8:00 a.m. Springfield area clergy and community leaders have been invited to attend the meeting hosted at the Council of Churches of the Ozarks.

The meeting will feature a keynote presentation by Dr. Ken Coopwood, Vice President for Diversity and Inclusion at Missouri State University, on the "Race: Are We So Different?" exhibit that was in Springfield at the Discovery Center during the summer of 2012. Dr. Coopwood will present results of a survey completed by visitors to the Race exhibit.

The City of Springfield, the Center for Diversity and Reconciliation, Missouri State University and the Council of Churches of the Ozarks are working together to implement city-wide post-exhibit conversations in the community. Collaborative participants will be invited to consider how best to promote additional conversations in the faith community that can lead to greater understanding of race and race relations.
