Public Works launches user-friendly Design Guide

City of Springfield Public Works department has taken another step officials hope will make life easier for contractors and developers. The department launched a new, more user-friendly online Design Guide for Public Improvements. This contains Springfield’s design standards, general conditions and technical specifications and standard drawing details for public improvement. Public Works has also updated the content of these documents and added a contractor rating system.

These documents can be found on the City’s website (www.springfieldmo.gov) under View City Departments/Public Works (www.springfieldmo.gov/departments/publicworks.html) or in the online Developers Resource Center.

“We ask consultants, contractors, and any other groups to become familiar with the additions and changes that have been made,” said Brandon Braun, Public Works project engineer. “By providing these updated tools, we look forward to working with our partners on public works and environmental projects.”

Improving the accessibility of information is in line with the City’s Collaborative Community Development philosophy for making Springfield development-friendly and "open for business." The City works collaboratively with private developers and designers to ensure high-quality, timely and safe projects become a reality in Springfield, Missouri.
