"Operation Safe Ride" results in numerous citations

Members of the Springfield Police Department, assisted by the Missouri State Highway Patrol's Air Unit, conducted an "Operation Safe Ride" enforcement effort Friday evening, July 19. Operation Safe Ride is an enforcement effort targeting hazardous moving violations that pose a threat to motorcycle operators in Springfield.

Officers stopped a total of 84 motorists during the operation. A total of 44 citations and 50 warnings were issued for various moving and non-moving violations. One arrest was made for an outstanding misdemeanor warrant.

The operation was funded by a grant from the Missouri Department of Transportation. The Springfield Police Department and the Missouri Highway Patrol want to remind drivers to be vigilant and to watch for motorcycle riders operating on our roadways.
