McDonald's $1 Day at the Zoo, Aug. 10
Dickerson Park Zoo will host the annual McDonald's $1 Day on Saturday, Aug. 10. Zoo admission will be one dollar all day (9 a.m.-5 p.m.) for children and adults.
Activities for McDonald's $1 Day include an appearance by Ronald McDonald from 9-11 a.m., and tours of The Ronald McDonald House Tooth Truck in the morning. The first 500 children (ages 12 and younger) to complete a "animal locomotion" scavenger hunt will receive a coupon for a free ice cream cone from a participating McDonald's restaurant. There will be $1 face painting and dollar deals at the Bush Country Café.
At Dickerson Park Zoo, there is plenty to do. Ride the Titus Express miniature train, feed the giraffes at the elevated viewing deck, visit the Outback Corral petting zoo and cool off at the Jumping Jewels water play area. Watch the zookeepers give elephant baths at 11 a.m. Other popular animals include the hippopotamus, lions, flamingos, Asian elephants, spider monkeys, and Reptiles and amphibians in the Ambler Diversity of Life building.
