Park pools season winds down this weekend

Pool season begins winding down at the Springfield-Greene County Park Board's six outdoor pool this weekend.

Sunday, Aug. 11 is the last day of the season at Meador Pool, Silver Springs Pool, Westport Pool and McGee/McGregor Wading Pool.

Grant Beach Pool closes Monday, Aug. 12, and Fassnight Pool remains open until Tuesday,Aug. 13. Both Fassnight and Grant Beach reopen for the weekends of Aug. 17-18, Aug. 24-25 and Aug. 31-Sept. 2.

Monday, Sept. 2, is the Labor Day Splash-n-Sizzle event, and pool admission is $1 or a canned food item all day (1-6:30 p.m.) Normal pool admission is $2.75 adults, $2.25 kids age 3-17. After 5:30 p.m. admission to all pools drops to $1 or a canned food item. All food collected goes to Ozarks Food Harvest.

Labor Day is the last day for humans to swim. Canines, however, are invited to dog paddle in Fassnight Pool Tuesday, Sept. 3, 4-7 p.m. at Dog Swim X. Proof of vaccination is required and preregistration is strongly recommended. Registration is $8 per dog and dog owner; additional humans are $3. All proceeds benefit Cruse Dog Park, Springfield's first off-leash dog park.
