DWI checkpoint results
The Springfield Police Department, in conjunction with, the Greene Co. Sheriff's Office, conducted a sobriety checkpoint on August 23rd into August 24th in the 1100 block of S. Glenstone Avenue. A total of 559 motorists were contacted during the 5 hours the checkpoint was in operation. Six drivers were arrested for Driving While Intoxicated, two arrests for Driving While Under the Influence of Drugs, and one warrant arrest. A total of 16 summonses were issued for other traffic violations.
The checkpoint was funded through a grant from the Missouri Department of Transportation, Division of Highway Safety.
Consequences of drunk driving include jail time, loss of driving privileges, sentencing to use ignition interlocks and increased insurance rates. Financial losses include attorney fees, court costs, lost time at work and the potential loss of a job.
Drunk driving is not worth the consequences – remember, if you drink and drive, you lose.
