DogFest, Dachshund Dash Saturday, Sept. 28 at Chesterfield Park

The Springfield-Greene County Park Board's 11th Annual DogFest returns Saturday, Sept. 28, 10 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. at Chesterfield Park, 2511 W. Republic Road, Springfield.

Everyone, including the family dog, is invited to enjoy a day of free fun, activities and doggy treats at the Canine Vendor Village, featuring commercial and non-profit pet organizations. Vendor space is still available for $50 until Monday, Sept. 23.

The wildly entertaining Dachshund Dash highlights the annual event, with races taking place throughout the day. The Dachshund Dash wraps up with the Best of the Best and the Best of the Worst races, around 2 p.m. The Dash is limited to, yes, dachshunds, and $15 registration is required by Monday, Sept. 23.

Other activities include dog agility demonstrations, hosted by the Humane Society of Southwest Missouri, featuring dogs adopted through their organization.

The Park Board also launches its newest kids' inflatable activity at DogFest: the new Beagle Belly Bounce House. Admission is $1 for kids 12 and under.

DogFest is free and open to the public. All activity proceeds benefit Cruse Dog Park, Springfield's first off-leash dog park.
