Five arrested in prostitution investigation

The Springfield Police Department arrested five men in a 4-hour undercover prostitution investigation on the evening of Sept. 19. This operation was conducted by members of the Department's Community Services Section and the Special Investigations Unit.

The enforcement took place yesterday evening in the area of Grant and Mt. Vernon in Springfield. The five men were arrested and cited for patronizing prostitution after they approached and solicited two female undercover officers. Prostitution has been an ongoing complaint among business owners and residents of the area.
