Halloween Fest highlights final weekend at Farm Park's Fall Fest
The Springfield-Greene County Park Board's annual Halloween Fest returns to Rutledge-Wilson Farm Park, 3825 W. Farm Road 146 (near West Bypass and Bennett Street) this weekend, Saturday, Oct. 26, 11 a.m.- 6 p.m., and Sunday, Oct. 27, noon-6 p.m.
The annual event celebrates all things Halloween, including pumpkins, costumes and candy. Pirates are the theme this year, and Halloween Fest activities include the Captain Hook Ring Toss, the Jolly Roger (temporary) Tattoo Station, walking the plank, digging for buried treasure and the Pirates of the Caribbean Kracken inflatable pirate ship. The Hay Maze has been converted into a treasure hunt, and pirate-themes crafts take place in the classroom. Bring a camera for pirate cutout photo spots.
Halloween Fest is designed for kids age 12 and under. Kids are encouraged to wear a costume. Farm Park staff will, of course, be dressed as pirates.
Halloween Fest highlights the final weekend of Fall Fest at the Farm Park. Fall Fest activities include the Corn Maze, Pumpkin Patch, Cow Train, Hayride and Corn Cannon.
Admission is to Halloween Fest is free, and most Halloween Fest activities are free, but some activities have a small fee, including the Corn Maze, Cow Train, Hayride, Corn Cannon, and the Kracken inflatable pirate ship. Pumpkins are sold by weight.
This is also the final weekend for the Haunted Trail at Rutledge-Wilson Farm Park. Brave souls take a hayride to the trail entrance, then they're dropped off to explore a frightening quarter-mile loop through the woods, where they may encounter a number of terrifying characters. The Haunted Trail is designed for teenagers and adults; children must be 9 years old or older to enter, and kids 12 & under must be accompanied by an adult.
The Haunted Trail is open Friday, Oct. 25 and Saturday, Oct. 26, 6-10 p.m. Admission is $5 per person.
