ForwardSGF_FullColorHorizontalA Plan for the Next 20 Years

Springfield's previous Comprehensive Plan, Vision 20/20, was created in 1996 and was last updated in 2004. The City has experienced significant changes in the last 15 years and some of the initiatives and recommendations from Vision 20/20 are becoming outdated. This can lead to poor planning and missed development opportunities.

In June 2019, the City started the process of updating the Comprehensive Plan. This update, called Forward SGF, will account for changes in the past 15 years as well as address future needs. The new plan was adopted by City Council in November 2022. The City is currently in the Implementation Phase of Forward SGF, which will involve updating a series of City Codes that regulate the development of land and installation of public infrastructure.
