Floodplain Remapping Participation
The City of Springfield is a participating community in the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) administrated by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).
The Flood Insurance Rate Maps (FIRMs) and Flood Insurance Study (FIS) for Springfield and Greene County are being updated to provide more accurate information regarding your property’s potential flood risk. The Missouri State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), in collaboration with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has worked with local community officials to review the information and the draft floodplains are now ready for public review. There will be a public open house meeting on June 4th, 2019 from 3 to 8 PM at the Missouri Career Center located at 2900 E. Sunshine Street. Following this meeting there will be a 90 day appeal period during which time property owners can provide additional data for consideration before the maps are finalized.
