Community Health

Regional Health Assessment

The Regional Health Assessment is a broad look at the health of our community and the communities nearby. The 2016 Assessment spans 51 counties over eight communities. Out of this assessment, the Healthy Living Alliance (HLA) created a Community Health Improvement Plan (CHIP).

Mental Health and Substance Abuse

We are currently working on completely a Mental Health and Substance Abuse Assessment. This assessment will give us a clearer picture of what challenges our community is facing and how we can work together to solve these challenges. Click here for more information about this assessment.

Disease Surveillance and Immunization

We help prevent the spread of disease by providing immunizations and investigating potential outbreaks.

Some of the services we provide:

  • Recommended immunizations for travel, shingles immunizations, and other recommended adult immunizations
  • Seasonal flu
  • Childhood diseases
  • Bug-related illnesses
  • Sexually Transmitted Disease (STD) testing and treatment
  • Tuberculosis testing and treatment
  • Waterborne illnesses – well water testing, local stream testing, pool inspections
  • Rabies investigations

Food Security

Where you live can have an impact on your access to healthy food. In 2015, we released a report on Physical Access as a Factor in Food Security. The report highlighted census tracts which have limited physical access to supermarkets. Read the most recent update to that report and view an interactive map here.
