Childcare Health Consultant Services

Quality childcare can make all the difference in the life of a child. We promote safe, healthy, and developmentally appropriate environments for all children to decrease the risk for injury and disease. We are committed to helping childcare providers offer the best possible care to our community’s children through a variety of program and services.

Training & Clock Hours

We offer free monthly educational opportunities for childcare providers and parents. Our classes provide a wide variety of information on health and safety topics that providers can use in their childcare settings. Past topics have included Gardening with Kids, Communicable Diseases, Physical Activity for Kids, Food Allergies, and Breastfeeding Support in Childcare.

Consultation Services

If you are a childcare provider or parents with a health or safety question or concern, we can help. Consultations are provided by our nursing staff, public health investigators, and/or epidemiology specialists by telephone, on-site or in our office at no charge.

Focused Health Promotion

We are happy to provide fun, kid-friendly health and safety programming to children in childcare facilities. These programs focus on the importance of good nutrition, eating from the garden and keeping our bodies healthy. Train-the-trainer opportunities for childcare staff is also available.

We want to work with you to make your childcare center healthier and safer. We have helped childcare centers build gardens, create health and safety assessments, and develop policies to support health and safety at their facilities.
