Steve Eggers - Airport Operations Supervisor

Steve has worked for the City for over 36 years.

Why do you do what you do?

“I love aviation. I grew up in an aviation family–flying, skydiving. I’m around people who share that common passion. ”

What’s the hardest part of your job?

“Keeping up with the ever-changing FAA rules, regulations and requirements necessary to run an air carrier airport.”

What’s the best part of your job?

“Meeting people you would not ordinarily get to meet, such as kings and queens from other countries, Presidents and First Ladies, movie stars, rock stars, Secret Service, senators, governors ... just can’t name them all!”

What’s the coolest thing you’ve done in your career?

“One (there are many) of the coolest things would be working with the Honor Flight, sending our veterans to Washington, D.C. for a long-overdue welcome and thank you for their service.”

What gives you satisfaction?

“Watching the airport operate as a whole, knowing that every department gives 100% every day without fail, 24/7.”

Do you work to live, or do you live to work? Why?

“I probably live to work (at the airport of course). If you love what you do there is no such thing as a bad day at work.”
