Give 5 is a newly created social program that matches innovative volunteer opportunities with retired (or almost retired) baby boomers ages 60+ who live in Greene County. Each Give 5 Class meets 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m., once a week for five weeks, visiting nearly two dozen nonprofits over the course of the program. Expect to have fun, make new friends and learn about volunteer opportunities that match your talents, passions and personality.

VIDEO: SGF Give 5 helped retired SPD police officer Mike Brazeal find the best match for his professional experience. In Mike's case, that was Harmony House, one of 23 nonprofits he and other retirees visited as potential volunteers.

VIDEO: Jackie Mayo shares how SGF Give 5 helps retirees discover volunteer opportunities that fit their interests and skills. (Bonus: It's fun, too!)

Boomers: Sign up to participate in SGF Give 5, a five-week long, one-day-a-week program that shows retired folks "behind the curtain" of nonprofits who need their volunteer talents. Watch the video from Session 1 to get a good idea of what to expect. It's a little like "e-Civic-Harmony" – matchmaking for all the best reasons. The first day includes a morning orientation, plus visits to three nonprofits; every other day we visit five nonprofits. Coffee, lunch and snacks are included and there is no fee to participate. After you've visited all 23 nonprofits, you'll be invited to choose a place to give some of your time.
