Clear the Windows & Lights

The recent snowfalls have highlighted a problem that Springfield Officers deal with continually (tip was originally from March 2003). The problem is drivers not adequately clearing off the windows and lights of their vehicles before driving. It is not uncommon to see a car going down the road with only a small area of the windshield cleared of ice and snow. There is no way the driver of that car can see out well enough to be safe on the roadway. Other drivers will leave the taillight area of their car covered with snow, which does not allow other drivers to see that vehicle's taillights or brake lights. Both of these actions are unsafe, can lead to accidents, and are illegal.

Let's please do everything we can to make our cars as safe as possible.
