Deer Are a Traffic Concern
With deer season approaching, the deer herds will begin moving about. Most car-deer collisions occur from October to December between the hours of 6 p.m. and midnight. If you see a deer, slow down immediately! If there is one, there will probably be more. Most fatalities in car-deer collisions occur due to drivers swerving to miss the deer and striking a fixed object or oncoming traffic.
With the hunting seasons nearing, many hunters carry firearms. Weapons should always be transported unloaded.
Hunting Equipment in Vehicles
It is important to remember that no weapons are allowed on any school properties. Last year an area youth was suspended from school for having a hunting rifle in his vehicle in the school parking lot. Hunting is a sport enjoyed by many, but do not take any weapon to school.
