Donna Thomas, Resource Coordinator, Public Information

Donna has worked for the City since 2015.

What are three words to describe the City of Springfield?

Welcoming, evolving, multifaceted.

What’s something you’ve learned since working for the City?

Municipal government can and does touch every part of a resident’s life. From the water they drink to the availability of safe, affordable housing, attracting businesses for employment to providing safe and entertaining sources of recreation.

What are you passionate about?

Customer service to both internal (other departments/staff members) and external (citizens and businesses) customers

Why do you do what you do?

I feel like, in some small way, I am making a difference in the safety and welfare of our community

What’s the best part of your job?

The people I work with. Not only in the Law Department, but all those I come into contact with on a regular basis.

What's the hardest part of your job?

Maintaining a consistent work flow. For instanceI have had as few as two council bills to process during a cycle and as many as 33. You never really know what to plan for until deadline day

What do you admire about this organization?

Everyone works well with others and cares about what they do. Supervisors and others make you feel that you matter and are important, make sure you have all the tools for your job and help you learn new things.
