At the Springfield Police Department, it is our policy to treat all persons in a fair, professional, and dignified manner. We are committed to working with all the diverse communities to build mutual trust and understanding. To support those values, we have implemented an LGBTQ+ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer) Liaison.
The current LGBTQ+ Liaison is Lieutenant Jennifer Charleston. In this role, she acts as a direct point of contact for community members to help foster positive relationships and address unique safety concerns within the LGBTQ+ community, among other roles.
Lt. Charleston is a 20-year veteran of SPD. She also serves as the Commander over the Community Services Section, City Center Zone and Special Events.
