Battlefield Corridor Improvements

The Battlefield Corridor Improvement Project will combine a number of necessary roadway improvements and repairs along Battlefield Road between Luster and Lone Pine Avenues. Packaging the multiple projects into one is expected to reduce costs, coordinate traffic control and minimize impacts to traffic and area businesses.

The package of improvements along the corridor will include:

  • New trail connection from Galloway Creek Greenway Trail – including a 10-foot-wide multi-use path from the Galloway Creek Greenway to a new 5-foot sidewalk that will run north along Lone Pine Avenue to the intersection at Battlefield. The path will connect with the greenway between the City’s Lone Pine Recycling Center and the Half-a-Hill Shopping Center.

  • Concrete pavement panel replacement – involving the removal and replacement of individual sections of concrete pavement that is in poor condition along Battlefield Road between Lone Pine and Luster avenues.

Public Works originally planned each of these improvements as separate projects led by different divisions. Coordinating and packaging the improvements under one contractor is expected to help reduce costs and improve work zone safety with fewer impacts to the traveling public.

The Battlefield Corridor Improvement project will be funded through a combination of sources including the ¼-cent Capital Improvement and 1/8-cent Transportation sales taxes. It is expected to bid out this spring, with construction anticipated to begin in late summer or fall of this year.

Traffic Impacts

Motorists should expect minor impacts to traffic flow at the Battlefield and Lone Pine intersection in the first two weeks of construction as crews work to remove the existing signal poles, place temporary signals and begin to mobilize equipment and supplies.

The public can expect a variety of single lane closures along Battlefield throughout the project, but the City expects traffic to remain flowing. The Lone Pine intersection may be impacted with lane closures  during certain periods of time, so drivers are advised to anticipate minor delays.

The public will be notified of specific impacts as the project progresses and details become available.
