Public Notice

Notice is hereby given to all citizens and interested parties that the Landmarks Board of the City of Springfield, Missouri has scheduled the following regular meeting dates. Meetings are scheduled for 5:30 p.m. in the City Council Chambers, 3rd floor of City Hall. The 2nd meeting of the month is designated for special meetings, presentations and educational purposes. Any other items need to be coordinated with Landmarks Board staff to be presented at the 2nd meeting of the month.

About the Board

Springfield has a Landmarks Board, whose purpose is to help promote the creation and use of the historic sites, historic landmarks, and historic districts for the educational, cultural, economic, and general welfare of the public through preservation, protection, and regulation.

The Historic District Review Board and the Historic Sites Board merged to form the Landmarks Board with passage of the Zoning Ordinance on June 14, 1993.

Powers & Duties

Powers and duties of the Landmarks Board include surveying and identifying historically and architecturally significant properties, recommending plans and policies with regard to historic preservation, and recommending to City Council the adoption of ordinances designating historic sites, landmarks, and districts.
