FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
On Thursday evening, Springfield residents will get the chance to share about the neighborhoods and housing they have experienced here to help inform the ongoing city-wide study of housing. The meeting will take place 6-8 p.m. at the Springfield Art Museum and will be livestreamed at cityview.springfieldmo.gov.
There will be an interactive component to the meeting, so attendees are asked to bring a device with Internet access. Those who arrive without a device will be provided with one to participate.
City of Springfield Planning & Development staff, along with consultants APD Urban Planning + Management aim to create a detailed housing database that provides information about housing conditions, unit counts, affordability and overall neighborhood characteristics. The information will help guide housing and neighborhood improvement strategies, initiatives and mechanisms and build consensus for improvements.
“This will be a data driven study, which will be used to identify citywide and neighborhood focused housing priorities and provide policy alternatives and intervention strategies to guide the City in decision making for future housing needs,” said Brendan Griesemer, assistant director of Planning & Development.
