FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Those interested in learning about a career in emergency communications are encouraged to attend Springfield-Greene County 911 Emergency Communications’ Employment Open House Friday.
The open house will take place 11 a.m.- 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 24 at the Springfield-Greene County Public Safety Center, 330 W. Scott St.
The event will offer potential applicants tours of the center and Q&A sessions with 911 staff.
“We are hoping that this open house will encourage people who have thought about working at 911 – and maybe some who haven’t even considered it – to come see our facility and talk to us about what it’s like to work here,” Director Kris Inman said. “We’ll be posting for hire again on March 3, so this will be a great opportunity to see what we’re all about before applying. We have the best people at 911 and we need more.”
The department is budgeted for 84 staff members and provides dispatch and 911 services for Springfield and Greene County, including 13 fire agencies and nine law enforcement agencies. All positions are full time, and staff work 10-hour shifts. Requirements are one year of experience in emergency communications/dispatch work; or two years of experience in a multitasking, high public contact work environment; or 30 semester hours from an accredited college/university. Full on-the-job training is provided.
