Springfield-Greene County Health is proud to join the nationwide effort to recognize National Public Health Week with the release of the 2022 Annual Report. All week, the Health Department will be highlighting the progress that has been made and what is still to come.

Overall, the annual report strives to highlight the impact of the Health Department, the success stories, and some of the work that is just beginning. The full annual report can be found on the Health Department website.

National Public Health Week is the first full week in April each year and is observed to recognize the contributions of public health and highlight the issues that are important to improving health nationwide. In recognition of this week, a different section of the report will be highlighted each day:

  • Breaking Down Barriers: how SGCHD meets people where they are and as they are with the services they need to promote healthy equity.
  • Partnering for a Better Community: the ways that our community comes together to solve complex issues with collaborative solutions.
  • Regaining Our Momentum: how the Health Department found its new normal and reestablished the programs that took a step back due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
  • Shaping the Road Ahead: a look forward to the work that needs to be done to achieve the vision of a community where all people live longer, healthier and happier lives.

“While this report is a look back on the previous year, it is also a preview of the path ahead. We are releasing this report during National Public Health Week to show how we are contributing to the goal of creating the healthiest nation. By working together to protect and improve our community’s health, we can make a real and lasting impact on Springfield and Greene County,” Katie Towns, Director of Health.
