Springfield, Mo. – On May 24, 2023, the Springfield Police Department recognized 26 graduates from the Leadership in Police Organizations (LPO) Training. Members of the Springfield Police Department, Springfield Fire Department, Springfield Planning Department, Springfield Animal Control, Ozark Police Department and Branson Police Department completed the three-week long program.
LPO is the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) leadership development training program. It is modeled after the training concept of dispersed leadership and delivers modern behavioral science concept and theories uniquely tailored to the law enforcement environment. Although primarily police-focused, the leadership concepts apply to other public safety and public services disciplines.
The course explores leadership at different levels in the organization including leading individuals, leading groups, and leading organizations.
