FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
National Avenue remains closed at Bonaire Drive, north of Norton Road, as crews continue to repair the roadway and damaged stormwater culvert bridge. Repairs were delayed due to the purchase of additional right-of-way as well as material supply issues.
In the coming weeks, crews will work to stabilize the sloping on each side of two newly installed 6-foot diameter concrete pipes and install new pavement and guardrail. The roadway is anticipated to reopen in mid-July (weather dependent).
Motorists are advised to follow posted detour routes. Southbound traffic will detour via Camorene Street, Vernon Road, and Smith Street. Northbound traffic will detour via McClernon Street.
