FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE The Springfield Fire Department encourages you to help save a life during the Aaron Goddard Memorial Blood Drive tomorrow. The drive, held in conjunction with the Community Blood Center of the Ozarks, will be held Thursday, August 27 from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm at the Thomson Donor Center at 220 W. Plainview Rd. Rescue Specialist Aaron Goddard began his career with the Springfield Fire Department as a Firefighter in November 2003 and was then promoted to Rescue Specialist in January of 2010. He proudly served the City of Springfield until his diagnosis of cancer. During his career at the Springfield Fire Department, he served as Secretary-Treasurer of the International Association of Firefighters Local 152. He was a hero to all he served and made a profound impact on the fireground, in the firehouse, as a friend, a mentor, a husband and father, and a pillar of this community. Aaron passed away on June 21 at the age of 42 after a 2 and half year long battle with esophageal cancer. To donate, please bring photo identification and be sure to each well and drink plenty of fluids prior to the blood drive. # # # For more information, contact: Cara Erwin, 417-864-1009 (office) | [email protected]
