FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
The City is seeking feedback from citizens in the form of a survey on the proposed list of new roadway construction projects to be included in the next cycles of the 1/4-cent and 1/8-cent sales tax programs. The survey is now in its final week and will close Aug. 31.
Public Works has gathered approximately 1,130 responses to the online version of the survey thus far. Paper copies of the survey are available at the Citizen Resource Center, which is inside the Busch Municipal Building lobby.
Roadway improvements to Grand Street (Kansas Avenue to Park Avenue), Galloway Street (Luster Avenue to Lone Pine Avenue), and intersection improvements at East Battlefield Road and Fremont Avenue currently top the list of the proposed projects.
Survey respondents thus far have indicated that addressing needs in alternative transportation, improving traffic flow and maintenance of existing streets and infrastructure are a priority.
The survey is available online at springfieldmo.gov/election.
The survey includes short descriptions of the full list of projects. It asks citizens to prioritize the projects and programs they think are most beneficial to the community and to offer any additional comments they might have. The survey is open to anyone who lives, works or visits Springfield and frequents City roadways.
