FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
At 5:36 a.m. on Oct. 30, the Springfield Police Department was dispatched to an injury crash near Division Street and LeCompte Road. A 2006 Chevrolet HHR driven by Kimber L. Vansandt, 21, of Springfield, was traveling southbound on LeCompte when it crossed Division and was struck by a 1999 GMC Sierra traveling westbound on Division, driven by James D. Jones, 49, of Strafford. Vansandt was transported to a local hospital. On Nov. 16, Vansandt succumbed to the injuries sustained during the crash. Next of kin has been notified. The investigation is ongoing.
This marks the twentieth fatality crash in Springfield for 2015.
