Graduation ceremonies for the officers of the 66th Springfield Police Academy will be held at 7 p.m. today, Jan. 22, at the Ridgecrest Baptist Church, 2210 W. Republic Road.
These 21 graduates have undergone 1,019 hours (26 weeks) of intense law enforcement training. Upon graduation, they will be assigned to an experienced field-training officer (FTO) for approximately 520 hours (13 weeks) of on-the-job training. Once they complete the FTO program, these new officers will be assigned to the Uniform Operations Bureau.
The class consists of two females and 19 males. Their combined education and experience includes seven associate degrees, 10 bachelor’s degrees, one prior Class A POST certification and eight prior or current members of military.
The media and public are invited to attend the graduation ceremony.
