FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Springfield police officers were dispatched to the parking lot of 1645 W. Republic at 10:01 p.m. on Feb. 5 after a 911 caller stated a person had been shot. At the scene, officers located a male victim in the parking lot that had injuries consistent with a gunshot wound. The victim was transported to a hospital where he later died. During the investigation, officers identified and located the suspect responsible for the shooting who was still at the scene. The suspect was taken into custody at that time.
The victim was identified as Corey Kesner, 31, of Springfield. Next of kin notifications have been made for the victim.
Detectives continue to investigate the incident and are asking anyone who has information about this incident to contact the Springfield Police Department at 417-864-1810 or make an anonymous call to Crime Stoppers at 417-869-8477.
