FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
The Springfield Police Department was dispatched to an injury crash at 3545 W Farm Road 34, the Springfield Sanitary Landfill, at 10:57 a.m. on Feb. 10.
A 2016 Kenworth semi truck towing a trailer, driven by Jordan Born, 28, of Greenfield, Mo., was in the process of backing when a pedestrian, John Choate, 53, of Buffalo, Mo., was pinned between the trailer and a piece of equipment. Choate was transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries shortly thereafter. Next of kin has been notified. There were no other injuries reported related to this crash, and the investigation is ongoing.
This marks the seventh fatality crash in Springfield for 2016.
