FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
The Springfield Police Department was dispatched to an injury crash near Chestnut Expressway and O’Hara Avenue at 3:46 p.m. on Jan. 29.
A 2015 Triumph motorcycle driven by Donald Myers, 55, of Springfield, was traveling eastbound on Chestnut Expressway when a 2013 Chevrolet Malibu driven by Mary Farris, 38, of Mansfield, exited the parking lot of 3250 W. Chestnut Expressway to go westbound. Myers' motorcycle struck the front of the Chevrolet Malibu. Farris was not injured. Myers was transported to a local hospital with severe injuries.
On Saturday, Feb. 13, Myers succumbed to the injuries sustained during the crash. Next of kin has been notified, and the investigation is ongoing.
This marks the eighth fatality crash in Springfield for 2016.
