Update: The victim has been identified as Landon Mark Bays, 18, of Springfield. He is currently in critical condition, and next of kin has been notified. SPD has no further details to provide regarding the assault investigation at this point. If anyone has any information that could assist police with this investigation, they are encouraged to call the SPD at 864-1810.
Original release: The Springfield Police Department is investigating a life-threatening assault that occurred at approximately 7 p.m. on March 11 in the 800 block of West Catalpa. The victim is a white male and had no forms of identification on his person, and he remains unidentified at this time. He is approximately 6 feet tall, 250 pounds, with brown hair and goatee. Investigators are asking for assistance in identifying the victim from a tattoo located on his left forearm (photo linked below). Anyone with information regarding the identity of the victim or information concerning the assault is asked to contact the Springfield Police Department at 417-864-1810.
