Springfield Fire Department arrests suspect in Ambassador Apartments fires

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE 

The Springfield Fire Department on Friday presented a case to the Greene County Prosecutor’s office with details associated with two arson fires at 1235 East Elm St. in Springfield. The suspect, 24-year-old Dillon Michael Gilbert is charged with two counts of first degree arson, a Class A Felony, and is currently being held in the Greene County Jail.

 

Investigators believe Gilbert is responsible for setting two fires inside the Ambassador Apartments building. The first fire occurred on May 4 inside an apartment and the second on May 8 in the common area of the building. The fires caused approximately $40,000 in damages. The building was occupied during both incidents. No one was hurt. Gilbert is a tenant there.
