FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
SPRINGFIELD, MO – The Prosper Springfield initiative, the Springfield Diversity Talent Hub Meet and Greet is a great chance for area college students and recent college graduates to connect with local employers that are looking to hire. Students from Missouri State University, Drury University, Evangel University, and Ozarks Technical Community College will be in attendance. This event is 6-7:30 p.m., Oct. 10 at the E-Factory, 405 N. Jefferson Ave., Springfield, Mo. 65806.
Although the primary focus is attracting diversity in the workplace, this event is open to students from all backgrounds. Additionally, students of different genders are encouraged to apply for jobs that are traditionally male or female dominated. By attending these job fairs students are not only helping themselves but future generations as well.
“This event is important so that we can retain our local college talent once they graduate and we can retain racially ethic students so they can bring more ideas to the table,” said Francine Pratt, Director of Prosper Springfield. “Sometimes there is a perception that students from an ethnic background don’t have the same opportunities, but this allows graduates from Springfield to know that they are welcome and that we want their knowledge to stay here. This gives students and businesses the opportunities to meet each other and have a dialogue. Attendees in the past have obtained internships and even jobs from these focused career fairs.”
