Christian County Receives Certified Work Ready Community Status

CWRC

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

The Missouri Job Center is proud to host a celebration for Christian County becoming a Certified Work Ready Community. Area leaders, elected officials, and Job Center staff will come together to celebrate this important accomplishment 3:30-4:30 p.m., Nov. 2 at the Christian County Resource Management office, 1106 West Jackson St., Ozark, Mo.

Christian County started participating in the ACT Work Ready Program on July 1, 2015 and completed their certification on May 12, 2017. During that time, the ACT set goals for Christian County to meet in four areas, all of which were surpassed.

The ACT Work Ready Community Program is designed to provide a community-based framework that focuses on the current workforce needs and helps to reduce the skills gap. This initiative allows for a more stream-lined approach to connect education to workforce development. These communities are helping to promote their local economies by increasing the quality of the workforce and anticipating the needs of area businesses.

For additional information about the event or the ACT initiative, please contact Wilma May at 417-841-3316 or wmay@springfieldmo.gov
