MEDIA ALERT The City of Springfield and Council of Churches of the Ozarks will host the annual Gift of Time Awards luncheon noon-1 p.m. Thursday at the Ramada Inn Oasis Convention Center, 2456 N. Glenstone. The Gift of Time Awards has the distinction of being the original volunteer recognition event in the Ozarks. It began in 1991, and has recognized hundreds of volunteers since its inception. All Gift of Time nominees will be recognized for their volunteer efforts at the luncheon. Five nominees will be selected as Volunteers of the Year and placed in a drawing to win one donation of $1,000 to benefit the charity of their choice. Award recipients will have their portrait displayed on the Rosanna Bradshaw Memorial Wall of Fame in the Busch Municipal Building throughout the coming year. Bradshaw, the Wall of Fame's namesake, was an active volunteer in the Ozarks for many years and helped to create the Gift of Time program. For more information, or to purchase a $20 ticket to attend the luncheon, please call the Council of Churches at 417-862-3586.
