(Lenexa, Kan., June 9, 2016) – EPA Region 7 Administrator Mark Hague will officially recognize the City of Springfield, Mo., on Monday, June 13, for its effective use of more than $7 million in funding and technical assistance from EPA’s Brownfields program to assess, clean up, redevelop and revitalize local properties previously compromised by hazardous waste pollution or petroleum contamination. Hague will join Springfield city officials and representatives from the Missouri Job Center at a news conference to discuss the city’s 17 years of success at using various types of EPA assistance to leverage the cleanup and redevelopment of local brownfields properties.
