FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE According to Missouri Supreme Court Justice Patricia Breckenridge, Springfield Municipal Court Judge Becky Borthwick was appointed on July 8 to the 13-member Missouri Supreme Court’s Municipal Judge Education Committee for a term ending Dec. 31, 2017. The committee oversees continuing education compliance by municipal judges. The members of the committee also plan and present mandatory new judge orientations twice each year. “I am extremely honored to be selected to serve on this committee. Providing consistent new judge orientation and continuing education for existing judges helps to ensure the quality of the Missouri municipal courts,” Borthwick said. Borthwick joined the City of Springfield as a municipal court judge in July 2013 and has since created and become the chief judge of Springfield’s Homeless Court program. She received her law degree from the University of Oklahoma College of Law and her bachelor of arts degree from the University of Missouri. She is a member of the Missouri, Louisiana, Nebraska and Oklahoma state bar associations and the Springfield Metropolitan Bar Association.
