The City of Springfield’s Planning & Development department, Springfield Community Land Trust (SCLT) and Habitat for Humanity invite the community to celebrate National Home Ownership Month Tuesday, June 16. Tour the Springfield Community Land Trust house at 1215 N. Missouri anytime between 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. Mayor Bob Stephens will issue a proclamation at 3:30 p.m. at the Community Land Trust house at 1215 N. Missouri. Prospective homeowners can learn about buying a home through the great affordable housing programs available in Springfield. Current homeowners can learn about lowering energy bills with a home efficiency analysis by Ozarks Area Community Action Corporation (OACAC) and how to receive no-cost or low-cost home repairs for income qualified owners. The Springfield Community Land Trust sells homes to people who are credit-worthy with low to moderate incomes. While buyers own the house, the land beneath their home belongs to the community land trust and the homeowner holds rights to the land by paying a small fee through a leasehold agreement.
