FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE The City of Springfield and partners Legal Services of Southern Missouri, Drury Enactus, The Kitchen Inc., Burrell Behavioral Health, I Pour Life, Missouri Career Center-Ozark Region and Springfield Metropolitan Bar Foundation will host “Taking the Court to the Streets,” 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Tuesday, May 5 at Drury University’s Lay Hall. The keynote speaker will be Steve Binder, deputy public defender with San Diego County Office of the Primary Public Defender. Binder founded San Diego’s Homeless Court, the model for other homeless court programs across the nation, including Springfield Municipal Court’s. Join us to learn about Steve’s role as an innovative attorney, the creation of the San Diego Homeless Court, their court’s current operations, his interaction with community partners and where he believes their court is headed.
