MEDIA ALERT Representatives from a 31-member citizen task force will present the group’s findings to City Council and the Greene County Commission at noon, Tuesday, March 31 at the Public Safety Center, 330 W. Scott Street. The Springfield-Greene County Environmental Priorities Task Force met nine times over the past year to help identify community priorities, as the City of Springfield, Greene County and City Utilities continue to refine an Integrated Plan for the Environment. Like many other communities across the nation, Springfield is addressing the challenge of increasingly stringent environmental regulations coming from all fronts. From stormwater to wastewater to air quality and drinking water, these regulations continue to evolve, and the community is required to devote more and more money and resources to comply. Springfield is one of the first communities in the country to develop a holistic Integrated Plan determining how to better manage area environmental priorities with regulatory requirements for air, water and land resources. These findings may help guide actions related to the implementation of the Integrated Plan. # # # For more information, contact Cora Scott, Director of Public Information & Civic Engagement, at 417-380-3352.
