FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE At the request of Councilman Craig Fishel, Mayor Robert Stephens has agreed to postpone the first reading of Council Bill No. 2015-056. The bill, sponsored by Councilman Doug Burlison, would repeal the ordinance outlining regulations regarding pit bulls in the city limits of Springfield, if approved. Due to prescheduled out-of-town business meetings, Councilman Fishel will not be present at Monday’s City Council meeting. “We have a Council policy that was established several years ago and reaffirmed twice by this Council in recent months that allows for a Council member to request the courtesy of delaying consideration and/or vote on a bill that he or she has particular interest in. Therefore, in accordance with our standing policy, I am instructing the City Clerk to remove Council Bill 2015-056 from the agenda and we will consider this item when Councilman Fishel returns,” said Mayor Bob Stephens. For more information, please contact Cora Scott, City of Springfield director of Public Information & Civic Engagement, at 417-864-1009 or 417-380-3352 or email@example.com.
