Springfield Police and Fire Departments responded Friday evening to a downed small aircraft in northeast Springfield. The aircraft was found in a vacant lot, between two houses, on the south side of Pythian. There were four occupants found in the plane. Two were transported via ambulance to a local hospital with what appeared to be minor injuries. The other two did not need medical transport. The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) have been notified, but fire officials say it will likely be tomorrow morning before investigators respond. Springfield Police Department has secured the area. Any future questions regarding the incident will be referred to the NTSB and FAA. # # # For more information, contact: Cora Scott, Director of Public Information & Civic Engagement, 417-864-1009 (office) | 417-380-3352 (cell), [email protected]
